For more than 20 years, the Walking Classic has been a beloved community tradition, inspiring thousands of participants each September to get active, connect, and give back. In 2026, the Healthy New Albany Walking Classic enters a new chapter, more closely aligned with the organization's mission.

Miles for Meals

The 2026 Healthy New Albany Walking Classic is dedicated entirely to the Healthy New Albany Food Pantry.

Every step taken on September 13 supports reliable access to healthy food for our neighbors, sustaining a vital resource that provided nearly 250,000 meals in 2025 alone. Taking place during Hunger Action Month, the event offers a meaningful way to take action locally and support community members who rely on the pantry.
The Walking Classic remains a walking-only experience designed for everyone to enjoy, from competitive participants to casual walkers. The 2026 5K and 10K courses are accessible to strollers, wheelchairs, and other mobility aids, and updated youth pricing makes it easier for families to participate together.
As part of this new chapter, participants can extend their impact beyond race day by creating a personal fundraising page and inviting friends, family, and colleagues to support the pantry alongside them.
